Vector-borne diseases are still widespread all over the world and create negative impacts on animals' and humans' health, welfare, food production, and are responsible for millions of deaths every year. Arthropod vectors and the pathogens they are transmitting are showing signs of resistance to our current preventative and treatment methods in many cases. This Special Issue of Vector-Borne Diseases and Its Pathogens in Tropics and Subtropics Areas: Knowledge and Gaps (OHIR) showcases the progress over the past decade, anticipates continued success, discusses current limitations, and highlights future opportunities expected and new methods to be presented. Enhanced laboratory-based vector-borne diseases surveillance, improved prevention, control and treatment approaches under Integrated Pest Management (IPM) or one Health principles, and engagement of global stakeholders are a few of the topical areas of relevance for consideration. Recognizing the trans-disciplinary nature of this Special Issue, we invite all animal control officers, diagnosticians, economists, epidemiologists, historians, modelers, physicians, policymakers, veterinarians, microbiologists, wildlife biologists, and many others with a passion for closing the above knowledge gap to communicate their work in OHIR.
